FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Codersmap?
We want to map all software developers in Nigeria. Our humble ambition is to aim at a one-stop database to pool information we have at present about those in Nigeria (individuals or otherwise) who have coder skills.
It employs a real-time map, so once you are listed, people can find you either by a text browse of the database or by browsing the map we have on every page, and they will find you if you have been mapped.
Visitors even get to see a web screenshot of your company website and from there visit you - higher visibility!
How much does it cost to get listed?
Nothing. It's free, as in "free beer". No strings attached.
How do I get listed?
You need to be logged in to list your yourself, your skills or your business. You may either begin the process by clicking on either the "List Skills" icon to the right of the home page, or the "List for free" button in the header menu. Either of them will present you will a list of all the features you can enjoy by listing yourself... and be found!
You may also chose to begin by registering for an account first.
Please note also the following:
i. A list is called an "Order", so to list a business or skill set, you place an "Order"
ii. If you are logged in already before making a listing, you need to click on "Advertise" to start the listing process
iii. From within your list you can place free Advertising or your other products or skill sets. These are called "Classifieds"
How do I review a developer I know?
You do not need to be registered to rate a business. You begin by either searching for and locating the business in question or if you are already within that business profile, simply click on the "Review it" button that will be usually be found to the right of that business profile page.
Whose idea is all this anyway?
Let's say it was first inspired by the frustrated we have felt as Nigerians in locating good software developers when we have needed a job to be done. We knew they were there but we either didn't know how to find them, or they had not made themselves visible enough. A result of this is that we have had to outsource many Nigerian jobs to freelancers abroad especially to Asia. So we want to make it easy for us and other guys to find the local coders and use their skills.
Beta means you're not launching yet?
Google was in Beta for donkey years and still is :) Well, that is not to say we're not ready. You will have suggestions (and we hope you do) on how we can improve this project and make it realize its aims. There will be bugs (we hope not) and there will be areas of software speciializations we may not have covered in our listing. Or, you may even hate a particular design or color style we have used! Tell us about it. Beta means we will keep improving it until everyone is happy :) Thank you for sending suggestions.
